Solarion AG photovoltaic cell and module factory, Zwenkau

Project description

Solarion AG, a manufacturer of photovoltaic systems, has invested €40 million in the construction of an integrated cell and module factor in Zwenkau near Leipzig. A three-hectare site in the new Zwenkau-Süd industrial park was chosen for Solarion's first facility for the mass production of thin-film solar cells and modules. AEK was able to contribute here with a project in the single-digit million range.

The ground was broken for Solarion’s new Zwenkau factory on 18 May 2011, and an entire production line was completed in less than 14 months. The first production line will produce both rigid and flexible solar modules. These new types of lightweight and flexible solar module are particularly well suited to integration into ceiling systems.
